Participant Waiver

1. Voluntary Participation

I confirm that I am voluntarily choosing to participate in We Run South community runs and related activities. I understand that physical exercise, including running on public roads, trails, and shared spaces, carries inherent risk of injury, illness, or death.

2. Assumption of Risk

I accept full responsibility for all risks arising from my participation in WRS activities. These risks include, but are not limited to: falls, trips, collisions with other participants or members of the public, uneven or slippery surfaces, traffic, adverse weather, physical overexertion, and pre-existing medical conditions aggravated by exercise. I have considered these risks and chosen to participate regardless.

3. Medical Fitness and Personal Responsibility

I confirm that I am in adequate physical condition to participate safely. I understand that I must not attend any WRS event if I have a health condition that could be triggered, worsened, or complicated by physical exertion. This includes, but is not limited to: cardiovascular conditions, respiratory conditions including asthma, epilepsy, diabetes, musculoskeletal injuries, and any condition for which a medical professional has advised against strenuous exercise.

If I have any current or recurring health condition, I agree to obtain written clearance from a qualified medical professional before participating in any WRS activity. I accept sole responsibility for any decision to participate without seeking that clearance.

I take full responsibility for my own health and wellbeing at all times during WRS activities, and I agree to withdraw from any session if I feel unwell before or during a run.

4. Road and Route Safety

I understand that WRS runs may take place on or near public roads and shared spaces. I agree to comply with all applicable road traffic laws, to remain alert to traffic at all times, and to follow any safety instructions given by WRS organisers. WRS does not provide marshalling or traffic management and takes no responsibility for incidents involving third parties, vehicles, or the public.

5. Release and Limitation of Liability

I accept that We Run South is a voluntary community running group and not a commercial fitness or sporting organisation. WRS does not provide supervised training, medical supervision, marshalling, or traffic management. I attend all WRS events entirely at my own risk.

I irrevocably release and discharge We Run South, its organisers, volunteers, and affiliates from any and all claims, losses, damages, costs, or liability of any kind arising from or connected to my participation in any WRS event or activity. This release applies whether any loss or injury arises from the actions of WRS, its organisers, other participants, or any third party.

Nothing in this clause excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by the proven negligence of WRS or its representatives, as required by the laws of England and Wales.

6. Age and Capacity

I confirm that I am aged 18 or over, or that I have the written consent of a parent or legal guardian. I am entering into this agreement with full legal capacity to do so.

7. Code of Conduct

I agree to treat all participants, organisers, and members of the public with respect at all times. WRS operates as an open and inclusive community. Harassment, discrimination, threatening behaviour, or conduct that brings the group into disrepute may result in immediate and permanent removal from all WRS activities, at the sole discretion of the organisers.

8. Media Consent

I consent to WRS using photographs or videos in which I appear, taken during WRS events, for non-commercial promotional purposes including social media and digital communications. If I do not wish to appear in WRS media, I will notify an organiser before the event begins or contact WRS directly to request removal of existing content. WRS will act on such requests promptly.

9. Privacy

WRS collects your name and email address solely to manage your participation. This information will not be sold, rented, or shared with any third party. You may request access to or deletion of your data at any time by contacting us directly. WRS processes this data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR).

10. Governing Law

This agreement is governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising from or related to this agreement will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
